I was never very artistic -- I couldn't paint, and got a "D" in a college sculpture class -- but I always saw things . . . artistically. At least I tried to. So, I became a photographer. Mostly it's been for my own enjoyment, but I have sold a few of my pictures (blush). I hope you might enjoy them.
Textures -- I love textures. They are everywhere. You just have to see them.
In 1976, while wandering in the woods, I found a tree that was being attacked by
insects. From a distance, it was just a dying tree. But look at the
detailed texture.
It's just mulch. Not real exciting.
Until you look closely.
My nephew's wedding was on an
island in Maine. The sights and scenes were magnificent. In
macro. But close up, too.
Would you believe a pile of
oyster shells?
Or a hi-contrast
black-and-white of a sandbar?
Sunsets -- Of course they are overdone. But, hey! It's my website, and I've got some I am proud of.
I used this sunset,
taken across The Gulf at Smith Beach, Virginia, for the cover of my
book.
I don't really know why, but
the sunsets in Viet Nam were awesome!
And from the lanai of our
hotel room on R&R in Hawaii.
And, of course, across the
Chesapeake Bay from our cottage at Smith Beach.
Actually this one is a
sunrise. It's pretty . . . until you realize that it is taken
across a dump in North Carolina.
